an Unusual Collection as a Gift
On 13 January, 2012 the President of the AVC Charity
Foundation, M.A. Avelicheva, presented Mikhail Piotrovsky,
the Director of the State Hermitage Museum, with a collection of
848 envelopes that were written on by artist from the Soviet underground
and the post-Soviet period.

The Conclusion of Antony Gormley’s Exhibit at the Hermitage,
a Contemporary Artist in a Classical Museum, PRO ET CONTRA
On 13 January, 2012 the Hermitage hosted a discussion dedicated
to the exhibit entitled Antony Gormley. Still Standing. A Contemporary
Intervention in the Classical Collection, timed to coincide
with its conclusion. Museum professionals and artists, as well as
ordinary visitors to the museum, participated in this discussion,
which was held in the exhibition space itself, in the Roman gallery
of the New Hermitage.
