Traditionally, women artists, with rare exception, are not well-known
in the history of art; as a rule, their work is known only to
a small circle of specialists. The lecture series proposed by
E.V. Lopatkina, a researcher at the Modern Art sector and prepared
jointly by the author and a group of Academic and Educational
Department employees, is an experiment, the first test of the
concept of exploring a timely topic from an unexpected, sometimes
provocative angle. Lectures about the complex, contradictory path
of a woman artist to the creation of works of art are united under
the name "40 Weeks of Women's Art", which certainly
contains a challenge and a secret meaning; during this time, a
woman is preparing to become a mother.
Employees of the Youth Center and a group of tour guides from
the Academic/Educational Center.
Lectures are held on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Center
of the Winter Palace (up the staircase to the left from the main
vestibule).
Entrance is free.
