The Dome Photo Project in the Hermitage
Youth Educational Center The Dome that is the final photo project of the section of Creative Photography opened on December 19 in the Youth Centre. The project is a research of the perception of St Isaac's Cathedral by masters of different generations. The choice of the topic is not random: the first known daguerreotype was called St Isaac's. 1839. Being an architectural dominant building and landmark of St Petersburg St Isaac's Cathedral has invariably come into sight of photographers for already 170 year. In the halls of the Youth Centre visitors had an opportunity to see photographs taken in the 19th, 20th and 21st century. The 19th century is represented by copies of works by Karl Bulla, Alfred Lorens and Karl Schultz from the collection of the State Hermitage. The photographs of the 20th century were created by such recognised masters of photography of St Petersburg as Nikolay Khandogin, Alexander Kitaev, Andrey Chezhin, Andrey Usov, Stanislav Chabutkin, Vladimir Antoshchenkov, Alexander Filippov, Evgeny Mokhorev, Vitaly Smirnov, Leonid Bogdanov, Yury Dyadyuchenko, Pavel Markin, Lyudmila Tabolina and Igor Lebedev. The modern view of St Isaac's Cathedral is reflected in the photographs by the middle generation, actively working photographers: Elena Agafonova, Alexander Smirnov, Alexey Zelensky, Alexander Nikiportsa, Asya Nemchenko, Alexander Valeev, Alexander Petrosyan, Dmitry Goryachev, Alexander Chernogrivov, Igor Bryakilev, Vera Dorn, Evgeny Sogrin and in the works by students of the Hermitage Youth Centre: Tatyana Braslavskaya, Ekaterina Talanina, Pavel Snopa, Vera Fiskova, Maria Zvir, Alexander Verevkin, Kirill Ivanov, Georgy Pavlenko, V. Abramova, Natalia Glushkova, Maria Lipovskikh, Darya Shishkina, Natalia Moiseeva, Dmitry Popov, Oleg Vereshchagin, Slavyana Kurzaeva and Darya Zavyalova. At the opening students had a unique chance to talk personally
